Representatives from the 40 P.E.O. chapters throughout South Carolina will meet in Florence, May 18 and 19, for the annual state convention.
The 33rd Annual P.E.O. Convention will be held at SiMT, Florence Darlington Technical College. Florence Chapter N, Sumter Chapter AA, Sumter Chapter Q and Manning Chapter AK will host the convention. This year’s theme is “Grow Where You Are Planted in P.E.O.”
P.E.O. (Philanthropic Educational Organization), one of the pioneer societies for women, was founded on Jan. 21, 1869, by seven students at Iowa Wesleyan College in Mount Pleasant, Iowa. Originally a small campus friendship society, P.E.O. soon blossomed to include women off campus.
