The Florence Little Theatre Schoolhouse Players will present to the public, “The True Story of the Tortoise and the Hare,” on Saturday, Oct. 3. The performance will begin at 11 a.m. and tickets are $4 per person.

Cooks for Christ will host benefit on Oct. 8 for Mary RobinsonThu. 8 Oct, 2015 (10:00 am - 11:00 am)Cooks for Christ will conduct a chicken bog benefit for Mary Robinson on Thursday, Oct. 8, at the West Florence Fire Station on Pine Needles Road, Lunch will be served from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. and dinner will be served from 4 p.m. until 7 pm. A bake sale will be held all day. Plates are $7 each and lunch and dinner can be delivered for orders of 7 plates or more.
The menu consists of chicken bog, green beans, slaw and bread. Mary Robinson has been diagnosed with End Stage Renal disease and undergoes renal dialysis three times a week. She is currently on the transplant list at The Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston.
Cooks for Christ is raising funds to help offset medical expenses, medications, living and travel expenses. She will have a minimum of 60 appointments at MUSC after the transplant and numerous miscellaneous expenses that will not be covered by insurance.
