to kick off new concert series
A new Community Concert Series will kick off on Sunday, Nov. 3, when the Charleston Symphony Orchestra (CSO) Spiritual Ensemble takes the stage at Francis Marion University’s Performing Arts Center. This group of 35 will present an inspiring series of traditional African-American spirituals in “No Trouble at the River: The Perilous Story of the Underground Railroad,” said Allison Savicz, publicist for the CSO Spiritual Ensemble. “The songs offer a narrative, a history of the slave situation from down under,” Savicz said. “These musical selections are an expression of hope.” The next event in the Community Series is the Dec. 20 Christmas Concert by the Florence Men’s Choral Society. Tickets for Community Series events go on sale approximately one month prior to the performance date. Tickets for the Ensemble’s concert on Sunday, Nov. 3 at 3 p.m. are on sale now at the PAC box office (M-F, noon to 5 p.m.). Contact the box office for more details at 843-661-4444. Groups are welcome.
