The Art Trail Gallery will host the Artisans of the South Carolina Cotton Trail exhibit during the month of January. The show opens Jan. 8 and an opening reception follows on Jan. 10, from 5 to 7 p. m.
The Artisans of the South Carolina Cotton Trail is an elite group of juried artists from Clio, Bennettsville, Cheraw, Darlington, Florence, Society Hill, Hartsville, Johnsonville and Bishopville. The Carolina Cotton Trail traces the influence of cotton on the lives and towns of the rural South.
A childrens art class, featuring cotton, will be presented Jan. 11 from 2 to 4 p. m. Please see Art Trail Gallery website (www.art-trail-gallery.com)for further information.
On Jan. 18, Janson Cox, executive director of the Cotton Trail Museum will present “The History of Cotton” at 2 p. m. A cotton spinning demonstration will also be held that afternoon.
On Jan. 25, ASCCT artist demonstrations will be presented at 1 p. m., featuring weaving and spinning, paper making, metal clay art jewelry, watercolor and oil painting demonstration and others.
The Art Trail Gallery is open Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday from 11 a. m. to 3 p. m.
