LAKE CITY – Artfields, a 10-day art competition, began Friday, April 25, and runs thru May 4 in the historic downtown district. With $100,000 in cash prizes given to artists from across the Southeast, ArtFields is the largest arts competition of its kind. Winners are determined by votes from ArtFields attendees and a juried panel of visual arts professionals. The public is invited to vote on their favorite piece. You may pre-register online at www.artfields.org and then come to Artfields to register and see the artworks. ArtFields is a celebration of all things creative. The Green will come alive with a second concert on May 4. ArtFields will honor its art competition prize winners, followed by a rockin’ send off by The Touch Band performing soul, R&B and Motown at The Finale Party from 7 to 11 p.m. The concert is free for all ages. Also, there’s a Farmers’ & Artisans’ Market.
