The Greater Florence Chamber of Commerce announced today that Mike Miller has been chosen to serve as the organization’s next President. Miller will assume responsibilities around the first of April.
In his role as President, Miller will oversee the chamber staff and focus on building future business activities for its members using strategic networking, leadership and professional development.
Miller was the former Vice President and Publisher of the (Florence) Morning News from 1999 through 2006 before becoming President and Publisher of the Winston-Salem Journal and later in 2012 taking a publisher role with Jones Media of Tennessee. He and his wife Mary Kevin, raised their three daughters in Florence.
“It’s an amazing opportunity for me to return to the Pee Dee region and contribute to its future in a much different way than I experienced before”, Miller said. “I again look forward to working with the great people that make up this community and operate our local businesses. Somehow, I don’t know that Kevin and I ever left Florence”.
Paul Seward, current Board Chairman added “I am very excited about the new direction of the Greater Florence Chamber. It is our goal to add more value than ever and become a resource for our members and the Florence business community as a whole. Mike is a proven leader and his established relationships with the business community in Florence will be a huge asset to his ability to move our Chamber in that new direction.”
The Florence Chamber was incorporated in 1916 and is a non-profit, membership-driven organization comprised of over 550 businesses. It serves as the voice of its members and as an advocate for furthering the interest of business across our region.
