8/8/2013 11:42:00 AM FLT holding auditions for Arsenic and Old Lace
The Florence Little Theatre will conduct auditions for “Arsenic and Old Lace” on Sunday, Aug. 18, at 7 p.m. and on Wednesday, Aug. 21, at 7:30 p.m. for ages 18 and older. The play will be directed by Shannon Dunn. It is being underwritten by Armstrong Wealth, and Dan and Anne Ervin. The play was written by Joseph Kesselring. It centers on two elderly sisters who are famous in their Brooklyn neighborhood for their numerous acts of charity. Unfortunately, their charity includes poisoning lonely old men who come to their home looking for lodging. The two women are assisted in their crimes by their mentally challenged nephew who believes he is Teddy Roosevelt and who frequently blasts a bugle and yells ‘‘charge’’ as he bounds up the stairs. Matters get complicated when a second nephew, a theater critic, discovers the murders and a third nephew appears after having just escaped from a mental institution. The play will be presented Oct. 25 thru Nov. 2. All auditions will be held at the Florence Little Theatre, 417 South Dargan Street. Prior experiences is not required and all audition materials will be provided.
