LAST YEAR’S CLARA, LEAH ABBOTT, LEFT, PARTY ATTENDEES AND PETRA MORGAN AS SUGAR PLUM FAIRY.
The South Carolina Dance Theatre will present the “Sugar Plum Fairy Tea Party” on Saturday, Dec. 7, at All Saints’ Episcopal Day School, 1425 Cherokee Road, from 10 a.m. until noon. Hosted by the “Sugar Plum Fairy” and other members of the cast of the Company’s upcoming production of “The Nutcracker Ballet,” the tea party will feature refreshments and special events, such as making ornaments and coloring Nutcracker pictures. A new event added this year will be decorating cupcakes. Photograph opportunities will be available with cast members in costumes. Every ticket holder will be registered for drawings for free tickets for the Nutcracker performance to be held the weekend of Dec. 13, 14 and 15.
The Sugar Plum Fairy and other characters from the ballet will add authenticity and excitement to the event. As children enter the tea party, they will delight in the staging of the event with Nutcracker decorations and memorabilia. The SCDT Company Store will also offer items pertaining to the Nutcracker and the holiday season at affordable prices. Cameras are welcome to record the event and children are welcome to attend the tea party in “dress up” costumes. Tickets for the Sugar Plum Fairy Tea Party are $5 per person (adult or student) in advance or $7 each at the door and may be obtained from any company member or by calling the South Carolina Dance Theatre at 669-3991. You may also email a request for tickets to email@example.com. Tickets may also be purchased at The Toy Shop. The Sugar Plum Tea Party is an outreach of the South Carolina Dance Theatre in honor of its upcoming performance of “The Nutcracker,” a wonderful holiday classic, to be presented at the Frances Marion University Performing Arts Center.
