The Florence Little Theatre presents the hilarious comedy, “Dearly Beloved,” Feb. 28 through March 8. It is directed by Frankie Sullivan and underwritten by a Friend of FLT. The play was written by Jessie Jones, Nicholas Hope and Jamie Wooten, also the creators of “Dearly Departed.” This is a tale of three sisters, Frankie, Honey Raye and Twink, who are throwing a wedding in Fayro, Texas, with the help of the cantankerous wedding coordinator, Miss Geneva, who runs the local floral shop/bus depot. However, on the day of the nuptials, Frankie’s hope begins to dim when she discovers Twink’s alternative solution to an expensive catered wedding dinner is a potluck supper sponsored by Clovis Sanford’s House of Meat.
The sisters ultimately pull together to find ways to keep the unsuspecting guests in the pews while a highway patrolman races off to track down the runaway bride and groom. Featured in the cast are Marcia Snowden as Geneva Musgrove, Katie Coker as Tina Jo Dubberly, Angela Lee as Honey Raye Futrelle, Rhonda Mitchell as Frankie Futrelle, Julia Saverance as Dubberly-Twink Futrelle. Also, Tede Lebarron as Nelda Lightfoot, Emily Coker as Gina Jo Dubberly, Joan Shortall as Patsy Price, Lloyd Willcox as Dub Dubberly, Shannon Dunn as Wiley Hicks, Larry Chewning as John Curtis Buntner and Mathew Manelli as Justin Waverly.
Production staff includes Laura Taylor as stage manager, Joseph Steen, set design and assistant director, Will Bynum, lighting design, C.J. Miller, dramaturg, Annie DeYoung, costumes, assisted by Sinead Kennedy; Shannon Dunn, props and Deb Hickman, production assistant, props and crew. Tickets go on sale to season subscribers on Tuesday, Feb. 25, and to the general public on Wednesday, Feb. 26. Tickets are $20 for adults and $15 for students. There is a $3 discount on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings. Reservations are necessary and may be made by calling the box office, at 662-3731, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. only on weekdays.
