|Little Orphan Annie comes to life on FLT stage|
The lovable Little Orphan Annie comes to the Florence Little Theatre with the McLeod Health production of “Annie, Jr.,” opening Friday evening at 7:30 p.m. This children’s summer musical production will be presented during the weekends of July 13-15 and July 20-22. Performances begin at 7:30 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, and 3 p.m. on Sundays.
Based on the Tribune Media Service Comic Strip, “Little Orphan Annie,” the book is by Thomas Meehan with music by Charles Strouse and lyrics by Martin Charnin.
This production is co-directed by Ashley Costas and Cole Davis.
The story follows the orphan, Annie, in her determination to find her parents. Annie plans to run away from the orphanage and from the villainous director of the orphanage, Miss Hannigan. The mean-spirited Miss Hannigan punishes the other orphans for Annie’s misbehavior. Along the way, Annie meets Oliver Warbucks who makes her an extraordinary offer. Through Annie’s search for her parents, the story encounters trials and scams, yet Annie finds parental love in the midst of the adversity.
Featured in the cast are Saviah Miller as Annie, Phillip Rast at Daddy Warbucks, Faith Hyman as Kate, Ryan Hilbourn as Miss Hannigan, Jay Hilbourn as Rooster, Molly Watkins as Lily St. Regis and RJ Lee as the dog, Sandy.
