James Island holiday light show now open
Brenda Harrison
Editor

I was in Charleston last weekend with the grandchildren and found out that the Holiday Festival of Lights at James Island County Park had opened on Nov. 8. I had never been before and this was an opportunity not to pass up. I am so glad we went because it was just fabulous – it was the best light show I had ever seen. There were lots of oohs and aahs and “look over there” coming from my twin granddaughters and teen-age grandson. This is definitely worth a trip to see and right now the crowds are not too bad. There are several parking lots where you can stop, park and visit Santa’s Village for holiday treats and ride on a carousel. You can also go to Winter Wonderland and hop on a small train to ride around lake in the park. Admission is $15 per vehicle for up to 15 guests or $10 on weeknights with a donation of canned food item or dog/cat food. Hours are Sunday-Thursday, 5:30 to 10 p.m. and 5:30 to 11 p.m. on Friday and Saturdays. The festival of lights runs through Dec. 31.
