2/4/2014 1:07:00 PM Be thankful if you have food, shelter
During the cold snap people everywhere rushed to the grocery store for the main food staples, milk, bread or that favorite junk food they couldn’t live without for a few days. We even saw a temporary shelter open to house those in our community from the extreme cold weather. Imagine the feeling of not being able to purchase those foods or have a warm safe place to sleep at night. Household food security exists when all members of a family at all times have enough food for an active healthy life. Individuals who are food secure do not live in hunger or fear of starvation.
Imagine, if you will, those folks in our community who live in food insecurity, limited availability or uncertainty of their next meal for their children. The next time you are grocery shopping and can purchase the food in your cart, thank God for all your blessings. The next time you come home to a safe and warm home, thank God for all of your blessings. The next time you are asked for money to help support our local soup kitchen, food banks or shelters for those less fortunate in our community, reach in your pocketbook and give what you can, and be thankful to God for all of your blessings.
