to veterans, collecting blankets
The Carolinian will honor veterans on Monday, Nov. 11, by offering free breakfast at 8 a.m. for all veterans, age 55 and older. Seating is limited so make reservations by calling 665-9314. Also, now through Nov. 15, The Carolinian will be collecting blankets for Light House Ministries. A “Blankets Of Love” drive runs thru Nov. 15. New or gently used blankets are being collected for Lighthouse Ministries to give to homeless people or those in need. Lighthouse Ministries is a faith-based, non-profit social service agency serving Florence county residents who are facing a crisis in their lives and need help to avoid eviction, disconnection of utilities or help paying for life sustaining medication. The first Friday of each month Lighthouse Ministries hosts a Homeless Connect Event where those who are homeless or near homeless can come to meet with representatives of approximately 25 different agencies to get help to change their circumstances. The weather is quickly changing and will soon be cold. Participate as you are able by bringing your blankets any time to the front desk. A Blankets Of Love Party on Friday, Nov.15 at 2 p.m. in the community room when Lighthouse Ministries will accept the donations.
