Florence Symphony Orchestra has winter concert set for Monday

Music Director Dr. Terry Roberts and the Florence Symphony Orchestra will be performing their Winter Concert on Monday, Feb. 10, in the FMU Performing Arts Center at 7:30 p.m. The concert will feature not only the talented Florence Orchestra, but also rising young star Jennifer Brown on the clarinet. The evening will begin with J.S. Bach's Brandenburg Concerto No. 3. This concerto has three violins, three violas, three cellos and continuo (bass and harpsichord) and each instrument is considered a soloist with a separate part. It will be an exciting piece because we will feature members of our orchestra as soloists for each part.

Then guest soloist Jennifer Brown, also the Symphony’s first clarinetist, will perform and explore the jazz side of the clarinet on Aaron Copland’s Concerto for Clarinet. Last, but not least by any means, the Florence Symphony will perform P.I. Tchaikovsky’s brilliant, almost autobiographical, Symphony no. 6 in B minor, op. 74, Pathetique. This event promises to be another unforgettable evening of music. Tickets start at $29 for adults with senior and student discounts available. Call the FMU Performing Arts Box Office at 843-661-4444 to reserve your seats For more concert details visit the website or call the Florence Symphony office 843-661-2541.
