PRESENTING CERTIFICATE – Regent Kay Pierson, from left, Marion Broach, David Grant and Ruth Barnett.
David Grant brought “Southern Bell,” one of his many Marsh Tacky horses, to the Samuel Bacot Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution meeting on March 12 at Roseneath Farm Barn. Marsh Tacky horses are a pure breed as they have remained part of the old world stock. The Spaniards brought the horses to North America. They were instrumental in helping in the Revolutionary War. There is documentation that Francis Marion rode one of these horses in the war. The Marsh Tacky horses were featured in the National Geographic issue in February 2014. The Samuel Bacot Chapter made “Southern Bell” an honorary member of their chapter.
