FLT recognizes talented volunteers at Awards Night

The Florence Little Theatre celebrated its 51st Annual Awards Night on May 22. Receiving Irving Awards for the Best Performance for each play were: Jordan Taylor and Mikayla Suggs for “Schoolhouse Rock Live Jr.”; Roger Kirby for “Les Miserables;” Lloyd Willcox for “Arsenic and Old Lace,” Deb Sulenski for “Doubt: A Parable:” Angela Lee for “Dearly Beloved;” and Rebecca Kelley for “The Wizard of Oz.” Robert “RJ” Lee received the Pebble Award and Annie DeYoung received the Debut Award.

Outgoing FLT President Shaw Thompson presented the President’s Award to Kitty Murrell for her outstanding volunteerism to the theatre. Near the end of the program, Thompson passed the president’s gavel to incoming president Dan Abernathy, who announced the slate of plays and musicals to be presented for the 2014-15 season. They include the summer production, Charlotte’s Web; opening season musical, “Fiddler of the Roof,” followed by “Crowns,” “Christmas Belles,” “Noises Off” and closing with “Spamalot.”
