BOJANGLES' HONORS EIGHT DISTRICT TEACHERS OF THE YEAR, DONATES HUNDREDS OF BOOKS TO LOCAL SCHOOLS
Teachers from Darlington, Florence 2, Florence 3, Florence 5, Lee, Marion, Marlboro and Williamsburg Among Those Honored

Today Bojangles’  on 1224 Celebration Boulevard honored local District Teachers of the Year by presenting books donated to their school libraries and dedicated in their names. This event is one of 13 happening across South Carolina this spring as Bojangles’ continues its support of public education in the fifth year of its partnership with South Carolina Future Minds 

Bojangles’ and S.C. Future Minds celebrated eight District Teachers of the year at today’s event and treated the teachers as well as their colleagues, friends, family and students to Bojangles’ made-from-scratch biscuits, hand-breaded chicken, Legendary Iced Tea® and other delicious fixin’s. Those honored included:
  • Darlington District Teacher of the Year Jill Knight, from Mayo High School for Math, Science and Technology
  • Florence 2 District Teacher of the Year Donna Creel, from Hannah-Pamplico Elementary/Middle School
  • Florence 3 District Teacher of the Year Diane Carter, from Olanta Elementary School
  • Florence 5 District Teacher of the Year Victoria Squires, from Johnsonville Elementary School
  • Lee District Teacher of the Year Sheneaka Ratliff, from Lee Central High School
  • Marion District Teacher of the Year Elaine Smith, from Marion High School
  • Marlboro District Teacher of the Year Mahilda Shemeka Curry Douglas, from Blenheim Elementary School
  • Williamsburg District Teacher of the Year Jennifer Murray, from Williamsburg County Magnet School of the Arts
Bojangles’ is a major sponsor of the Teacher of the Year program, which is designed to support teachers across the state making a positive impact on their students and the future of South Carolina through their commitment to education. This year Bojangles’ will donate nearly 3,000 books in honor of the 2014 District Teachers of the Year.   “We are thankful for the hard work of South Carolina’s outstanding educators and happy for the opportunity to show our gratitude through our partnership with South Carolina Future Minds,” said Bojangles’ President and CEO Clifton Rutledge. “Bojangles’ has been part of communities across the state for many years. We’re proud to celebrate the 2014 South Carolina District Teachers of the Year at Bojangles’ from the Upstate to the Lowcountry this spring and we look forward to continuing the celebration during Teacher Appreciation Month in May.”   South Carolina is home to 700,000 students, 50,000 teachers and nearly 1,200 schools in its public education system.  Since 2010 Bojangles’ has donated more than 12,000 books to public schools and raised nearly $60,000 in support of a better learning experience for the state’s public school students.  Bojangles’ is also the founding sponsor of Teacher Appreciation Month and will kick off a statewide fundraising campaign in May.
