Teen summer reading programs

The Teen Services Department of the Florence County Library will be hosting its Summer Reading programs at five branches – Florence, Lake City, Pamplico, Johnsonville, and Olanta – this summer for rising 6th through 12th graders. The theme for this year’s Summer Reading is “Spark a Reaction,” with an emphasis on science and creativity. Prizes will be awarded for reading this summer. You can read anything: books, graphic novels, magazines, newspapers, or listen to audio books. Prizes will be given for 12 hours of reading. Please join in this fun-filled summer program.

Our Florence programs are funded by The Friends of the Florence County Library System, Golden K Kiwanis, Dr. D. Moss, Nan Ya, Nationwide: Hodge, Ethridge Insurance and Finance LLC, and State Farm: Jim Stewart. Florence programs will be held on Thursdays from 3:30-4:30: June 19-Zombie Zone makeup program (limited space) June 26-Mythbusters July 3-Movie July 10-Craft July 17-Haunted Tales Contact 292-7382 to register. The Florence County Library will also be hosting free teen movies on Tuesdays at 2 p.m. starting the week of June 16. Refreshments will be provided. Drinks will be donated by PepsiCo and popcorn will be donated by Julia 4 Cinemas.

Branch programs are as follows:
Pamplico programs will be on Wednesdays from 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. June 18-Zombie Zone makeup program (limited space) June 25-Mad Science July 2-No program July 9-Health Rocks! July 16-Craft Contact 493-5441 to register. (Funded by the Friends of the Pamplico Library)

Lake City programs will be held on Thursdays from noon to 1 p.m. June 19-Zombie Zone makeup program (limited space) June 26-Lake City Beautification Committee July 3-Movie July 10-Explore Science with Clyde Best July 17-Haunted Tales with Donna Washington July 24-Pizza party By invitation only Contact 394-8071 to register. (Funded by the Friends of the Lake City Library)

Olanta programs will be on Tuesdays from 6 -7:30 p.m. June 10-Board Game Night June 24-Board Game Night July 8-Board Game Night July 22-Board Game Night Contact 396-4287 to register. (Funded by the Friends of Olanta Public Library)

Johnsonville programs will be on Wednesdays from 3-4 p.m. June 18-Teen Movie Kick Off June 25-Mad Science July 2-Movie July 9-Health Rocks!
