raises almost $2,300
for animal shelter
“We just want to give every animal a chance,” said Jayne Boswell, head of the Florence Area Humane Society about their goals at the shelter. The West Florence Tennis Club helped give those animals a chance by raising approximately $2,300 for the FAHS. The project was headed by Coaches Jamie Magee and Charlie Nelson of the West Florence Tennis Club. “I’ve always had animals, many of them rescued, and I knew that with a large number of members we could make a difference,” said Magee about what made him get involved with the project. Additionally, the project was easy, which made it fun and interesting for everyone to participate. The Tennis Club members were asked to bring five dollars to donate, but some of the West Florence tennis club members loved the project so much that they even went above and beyond the call of duty. “I love animals and I knew the money was going to a good cause,” said student Emily Kozacki who donated $20 to the shelter. The presentation of the check to the Humane Society was a moving experience that put a smile on everyone’s face in the room. Boswell was extremely happy when she was handed the check and every Tennis Club member knew that he or she had helped give those animals the chance they deserve.
