Don't forget Darlington 5000 Run/Walk

DARLINGTON – On Saturday, Sept. 14, the City of Darlington will hold its 9th annual Darlington 5000 run walk to raise funds for and awareness of Williamson Park. Lace up your shoes, and get to the Public Square at 8 a.m. to register and complete a USATF-certified course. The race begins at 9 a.m. Runners and walkers begin the race on the Public Square and make their way down into the park, across Swift Creek and along park trails, arriving back at the finish line for good fun, food, and prizes. Registration is $20. The park, given to the City in 1927 by Bright and Margaret Williamson is a 64-acre tract that includes majestic cypress trees, familiar flora and fauna expected in a coastal plains swamp. Bridges and footpaths crisscross over Swift Creek, and a road runs along the park.
