Francis Marion University graduate student Evrik Gary has been named to the 2014 National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) All-Southeast District basketball team. Gary was selected to the six-member first-team squad.
Gary averaged 20.7 points, 4.6 rebounds, 3.1 assists, and 1.3 steals per game this past season. The 6-3 Camden, S.C., native also led the Peach Belt Conference in scoring and ranks 33rd nationally. He led the conference in three-point shooting percentage (46.9%), while ranking second in free throws made (162), fourth in minutes played per game (34.8), fifth in free throw percentage (87.6%), 15th in steals, and 16th in assists.
Gary shot 47.1 percent from the floor and scored in double figures 26 times this year with fifteen 20-point games, including five 30-point efforts.
The Patriots ended the 2013-14 season with a 12-15 mark following a last-minute loss to nationally ranked University of Montevallo in the quarterfinals of the PBC Tournament.
A four-year starter, his career point total of 1,787 was second-best in FMU history and fourth-best in PBC history. Gary also holds the school career records for three-pointers made and attempted, free throws made, and free throw percentage at 88.0 percent.
Gary, a former All-State performer at Camden High School, was earlier this month named to the Daktronics All-Southeast Region Team (second team).
