FMU offering summer camps
Sports Camps

Activities Camp
Francis Marion University will hold its annual FMU Activities Camp 2014, June 9-July 3. The camp for boys and girls, ages 5-12, is divided into four sessions and runs weekdays from 8 a.m. until noon. Each of the five-day sessions, June 9-13, June 16-20, and June 23-27 is $70 per camper, while the final four-day session, June 30-July 3, is $56 per camper. For those who participated in last year’s camp, the five-day sessions are reduced to $60 each and the four-day session to $48. Camp activities will include kickball, soccer, tennis, volleyball, basketball, and swimming. Instruction in the various sports will be by Francis Marion University athletic coaches. Campers will be divided into groups by ages. Each pre-registered camper will receive an Activities Camp T-shirt. Enrollment is limited. Baseball Camps
Francis Marion University has announced two sessions of its Baseball Camp 2014, an opportunity for young athletes to develop and polish their diamond skills. The annual camp, for children ages 7-12, will be held June 16-20 and July 14-18 from 9 a.m. until noon each day. Conducted by Francis Marion head baseball coach Art Inabinet and members of the Patriot baseball team, the camps will stress learning basic game strategy and making the most of individual skills. Inabinet is in his 14th year at the helm of the FMU baseball program, and has more than 550 career coaching victories. Applications for the camps are now being accepted. The camps are $90 per session, in advance, or $100 on the first day of camp. Enrollment is limited. Each camper will receive a t-shirt. Men’s Basketball
The Francis Marion University men's basketball program will sponsor several 2014 summer camps starting in the month of June. Three sessions of the “Four Great Days of Summer” Basketball Camp will be held June 16-19, June 24-27, and July 8-11 for boys in grades two through 10. The 2014 Pee Dee Team Basketball Camp and Shootout will be June 12-14. The four-day individual camp will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The cost of the camp is $150 for one session. The fee does not include lunch. A special discounted price of $250 is available for campers who wish to attend two sessions, and $300 for those attending all three sessions. The camp is designed to provide fundamental instruction in all phases of the game. For the camp, squads are guaranteed six games and will compete in a double-elimination tournament on the final day of camp. The cost is $475 per team ($425 for a second team) and $85 per player for two nights on-campus lodging and six meals (if interested). All campers will receive a t-shirt. Tennis Camps
FMU has scheduled two sessions of its annual Tennis Camp 2014, June 16-19 and July 7-10, for boys and girls, ages 8 to 18. The camp will be held Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. until noon on the Kassab Courts on the FMU campus. The cost is $60 per camper. Each camper will receive a T-shirt. FMU men’s and women’s tennis coach Garth Thomson is the camp coordinator and instructor. A native of Zimbabwe, Thomson is a FMU graduate and former two-time All-American. Volleyball Camp
The Francis Marion University women’s volleyball program will hold its summer camp, June 27-29. Campers may choose to either commute to camp daily, or reside on campus. The camp is for players entering the sixth through 12th grades. The cost is $240 per player for residential campers, and $155 for commuting campers. Each camper will receive a camp t-shirt.
