6/20/2013 10:26:00 AM Catholic Charities opens new office in Pee Dee
CONWAY – Bishop Robert E. Guglielmone led the official grand opening and blessing of the new Pee Dee Catholic Charities office on May 13. More than two dozen Catholic Charities employees and volunteers, and diocesan staff members attended the event. The Conway office was relocated to 2294 Technology Blvd. from its previous site at 537-B Highway 90. “Several months ago, we conducted an analysis of the people we serve in this area,” said Caroline Weisberg, director of the Office of Social Ministry which oversees Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Charleston. “As a result of that study, we determined this location within the Pee Dee would be the ideal place for us to serve the greatest number of people.” The new facility offers food assistance and prescription aid. In the upcoming months, it will offer dental and vision assistance, senior care, and “Clean of Heart,” a laundry and shower facility for the homeless. The office will also provide immigration services in the future, a new Catholic Charities service for this area of the state. The Pee Dee Catholic Charities office will be open Monday – Friday from 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Those who need assistance can either stop by or call (843) 234-1999 to make an appointment.
