10/3/2013 8:18:00 AM Central's music dept. offering choral scholars program
The music department of Central United Methodist Church announces the establishment of a new choral scholars program. Funded in part through a generous donation from the estate of Wes Lacey, this program establishes four paid section lead positions – one of each soprano, alto, tenor and bass. The positions are to be filled by college-age voice students studying at a recognized institution or pursuing private study. The choral scholars are expected to attend Wednesday evening rehearsals and both 9 a.m. and 11:15 a.m. services on Sundays. Extra services throughout the year include (but are not limited to) Christmas Lessons and Carols, Christmas Eve, Maundy Thursday and Good Friday. In addition to choral singing, there will be opportunity for solo and ensemble work. Ability to sight sing is required. Interested singers should contact Dr. Don Grice, director of music, at 843-662-3218 (ext. 119) or dgrice@central methodist.net.
