Cooks for Christ will host a chicken bog benefit for the late Billy Brown. The benefit will be held on Thursday, May 15, at the West Florence Fire Station on Pine Needles Road. William “Billy” Brown was diagnosed with leukemia in 2012 and stage 4 lung cancer in October 2013. The cancer spread to both lungs and lymph nodes. Unable to work and medical expense caused a financial strain on his family. Sadly, Billy passed away on April 22, leaving behind many outstanding medical bills.
Cooks for Christ is raising funds to help his family with these expenses. Lunch will be served from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. and dinner will be served from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. A bake sale will be held all day. Plates are $6 each and lunch and dinner can be delivered for orders of seven plates or more. Please make your donation payable to William Brown Medical Fund. The menu consists of chicken bog, green beans, slaw and bread. For more information, contact Kathy Johnson at 260-5504, Jenifer Floyd at 662-4228 or Beverly McKee at (843) 229-0348.
