DON SWARTZ, Publisher
Don Swartz has more than 30 years in the newspaper industry. He began his career in 1981 selling advertising in Tampa, Fla. Over the next 16 years he worked for newspapers in Palatka and St. Augustine, Fla.; Corinth, Meridan and Starksville, Miss; Florence, Ala.; and Sevierville, Tenn.
In 1997, he moved back to Corinth, Miss., as the Publisher. His next move was to Indiana where he was Publisher for the Peru and Wabash newspapers.
In late 2001, Don moved to Florence as a Partner and Publisher of The News Journal, The Darco News & Buyers Guide in Hartsville, and The Marion County News Journal in Marion and Mullins. On July 1, 2006, these properties became the publications of Swartz Media.
His newspaper career includes the following employers: • Sun Publications • Morris Newspapers • New York Times • Hollinger Newspapers • Worrell Newspapers • Paxton Newspapers • Morris Multi Media
Don is married to Cathy Swartz and they have two daughters, Cassie and Lara. They presently live in Florence where they are members of Central United Methodist Church.

BETH STREETT, Production Manager
Beth has been a member of The News Journal staff since moving to Florence in 1986. She started as a typesetter and part-time bookkeeper.
Currently, she serves as the production manager, responsible for the overall layout of The News Journal and its sister publications - the Hartsville News Journal and the Marion County News Journal.
Married to Leon, she is the mother of Justin and Jenna.
CATHERINE MORENO, Bookkeeper
Catherine has been with The News Journal for 5 years. She currently serves as our bookkeeper.
She has 7 fur babies.
KADEE HODGE, Web Manager
Kadee has been employed with The News Journal for 2 years. She currlently serves as our web manager. Kadee keeps our website up to date. She also hanldes our classifieds, legals, and inserts.
Kadee resides in Darlington with her boyfirend 2 kids Jayden & Annaleigh, Step-daughter Alexis & Harley (family dog).
