Cooks for Christ to host benefit for Fay Sims
Cooks for Christ will host a Chicken Bog Benefit on Aug. 27 for Fay Sims. Linda “Fay” Sims of Turbeville has End Stage Liver Disease. She was diagnosed with this disease in 2010. In March of this year, she was diagnosed with Pulmonary Hypertension and Congestive Heart Failure and placed on a ventilator. She also suffers from Rheumatoid Arthritis and borderline Lupus. Fay has been given six months or less to live
. She has one daughter, Brittany Tedder, who had to quit work to serve as Fay’s primary caregiver. Cooks for Christ is raising funds to help with medical expenses, medications, travel expenses and loss of income. Fay’s benefit will be held on Thursday, Aug. 27, at the West Florence Fire Station on Pine Needles Road in Florence. Lunch will be served from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. and dinner will be served from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m.
The menu consists of chicken bog, green beans, slaw and bread. A bake sale will be held all day. Plates are $7 each and lunch and dinner can be delivered for orders of seven plates or more.
