‘Just for Women’ Bible study being offered
All women, young and old, are invited to join the Fall Bible Study offered by Just For Women Inc. A
10-week study on David will be held on Mondays in Darlington and Tuesdays in Florence from 11 a.m. until noon. The Bible study begins on Sept. 13 in the Darlington Presbyterian Church’s McCown Building on Pearl St. in Darlington, and on Sept. 14 in the First Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall off Cherokee Road in Florence.
Entitled “David, A Man After God’s Own Heart,” the study will be taught by Yvonne Rhodes. As a young married woman, Rhodes developed a love for God’s Word under the teaching of JFW founder Betsy Bird. A retired history teacher at Wilson High, she is married to Gerald. They have three grown children and nine grandchildren. She has led many Bible studies and is passionate about teaching women to understand and apply God’s Word in their lives.
“Did you ever wonder why God referred to David as a man after His own heart?” asks Rhodes.
“David certainly was not perfect; he made many mistakes. We are going to study I and II Samuel and various Psalms to learn some lessons for our lives. Our goal is to be ‘A Woman After God’s Own Heart.
’” The first lesson will open with David, a shepherd boy, said Rhodes.
“In the years he spent alone in the pastures of Bethlehem, God prepared David to be king. Many people influenced David’s life: they include Saul, Jonathan, Goliath, Abigail, Bathsheba and more. We will look at how God used these people to help bring David closer to Him,” she said.
Rhodes invites and encourages women of all faiths to join her and other ladies from this area as they delve into the Word of God to equip them to become “women after God’s own heart.
” There is no fee to attend the Bible study, but donations are accepted. Register at the first session.
