‘Dust and Shadow’ exhibit opens at University Place Gallery
An intriguing multimedia exhibition opened last week at FMU’s University Place Gallery.
Titled “Dust and Shadow,” the exhibition by artist Anna G. Dean opened March 16 and closes on April 23. In her latest work, Dean investigates the fine line between order and chaos in the natural and man-made world.
The sprawling exhibition includes large scale steel sculptures, installations, digital video, and mixed media paintings, and includes motion graphics and may not be suitable for individuals who are light sensitive.
Dean is currently an artist-in-residence at the McColl Center in Charlotte, N.C., where she is working with the staff of Atrium Health and investigating COVID as part of a new body of work. She graduated from FMU with a bachelor’s degree in art education, and recently received her master’s degree in fine arts from Winthrop University.
The University Place Gallery is located within FMU’s University Place building, located at 142 N. Dargan Street in the former L.S. Rainwater Building and is open Tuesday through Friday from noon to 5 p.m.
