National Bikers Roundup set for Darlington Dragway

on Wednesday, 08 July 2015. Posted in Good life

The 38th annual National Bikers Roundup event is scheduled for Aug. 5-9, at Darlington Dragway. More than 20,000 motorcyclists are expected to attend the event from over across the country. It is said to be the largest minority owned and operated camping rally in the country. National Bikers Roundup (NBR) is a five-day event where attendees enjoy camping, exhibits, vendors, stunt shows, entertainment and a host of other motorcycle-related experiences.

Past roundups have included blood drives and food drives that benefit local charities. One hundred percent of all food drives will remain in the Hartsville/Florence area. The event was first organized in 1977 by a group of African American motorcycle clubs. The group is headquartered in Kansas City and holds the roundup in a different city every year. This is the first time for the event in the Florence area and the second time for the state of South Carolina.

“We welcome the National Bikers Roundup to the Florence area,” states Holly Beaumier, director of the Florence Convention and Visitors Bureau, “and we look forward to having a busy first week in August.” The 2014 NBR event held in Tulsa, Oklahoma brought an estimated $5 million impact to that area. Albert Butler, chairman of the Columbia South Carolina Roundup Committee, would like to extend a warm welcome to everyone that will attend this event from the Harley Davidson Demo rides, to live entertainment and the kids zone.

There is fun for all ages and this is truly a family affair. The NBR is governed by bylaws created by the Motorcycle Clubs that attend. The event serves to unite the motorcycle community, celebrate accomplishments, rejoice in promoting camaraderie and provide an excellent opportunity for brands to gain exposure and connection with the motorcycle community.
