New exhibit at Morris Gallery
A new exhibit in the Dr. N. Lee Morris Gallery at the Florence County Library is showing the works of several accomplished Low Country African American artists to commemorate the Jamestown, S.C. settlement of freed slaves. Featured artists include Arianne King Comer, Caroline Lamkin, Alvin B. Glen, and Georgette Wright Sanders.
The exhibit is part of the “Celebrate Jamestown” events this summer, which also include separate poetry and spoken work events depicting the culture and traditions of African-Americans that took place at the Drs. Bruce and Lee Foundation Library on July 16 and will take place on Aug. 27 from 2:30 to 5 p.m. The exhibit will run through Aug.29.
