Cross-country squad earns All-Academic honors
For the third consecutive year, the Francis Marion women’s cross country team has been named to the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association’s list of All-Academic Teams for the 2019 season.
The Patriot women compiled a 3.08 cumulative grade point average under the guidance of head coach Mark Bluman, who recently concluded his 19th year at FMU.
The 2019 women’s roster consisted of seniors Alexis Byers (Carnegie, Pa.), Emma Driggers (Mauldin), Alison Filer (New Castle, Pa.), and Andrea Liddell (Manning); sophomore Taylor Boggs (Darlington); and freshmen Artiana Andrews (Lancaster), Sarah Driggers (Mauldin), and Angela Kasitz (Boyertown, Pa.).
The USTFCCCA recognized 148 women’s squads nationwide. Francis Marion was one of eight Peach Belt Conference women’s programs to earn the honor.
For a team to be considered for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Team award, they must have competed and compiled a team score at an NCAA Regional Championship and also have a minimum 3.00 team cumulative GPA.
The FMU women placed eighth at the 2019 Peach Belt Conference championships and 25th at the NCAA Division II Southeast Regional meet.
