6,000 registered for Florence One virtual academy
More than 6,000 students have registered for the Florence One Schools virtual academy, according to information provided during the district’s regular Board of Trustees meeting Aug. 13.
Students had through Monday to enroll in the F1S virtual academy.
Those students not registered for the virtual academy will participate in a hybrid in-person/online curriculum. Each school will be divided in two groups, with those two groups rotating different days between in-person and online learning.
Letters were scheduled to be sent out this week informing students of their assignment.
At present, teachers are scheduled to report Aug. 24 with school scheduled to start Sept. 8.
In other business, the board approved;
• a guaranteed maximum price budget of $39,961,759 for the new 175,000 square-foot Southside Middle School, which is planned to have an auditorium (up to 500 people) and lighted soccer/football field). The budget was originally around $46 million.
