SLOAN COLUMN: New beach resort is doggone fabulous
Are you looking for a luxurious getaway? Somewhere to get pampered, relax in comfort, and simply be spoiled rotten? A place where one can social distance in style, lounging around all day on a comfy bed without a care in the world?
How about a mani/pedi or facial?
Full body massage?
Room service for every meal?
Sounds pretty darn good, right?
Well, there is a place opening up soon in Myrtle Beach that will offer all of this and more, leaving clients feeling as if they are royalty. Nothing is too good for their clients.
Oh, there is one thing I failed to mention. This extravagant escape is not for you. It’s for your pets.
When it opens, the Coastal Paws Pet Resort plans to set the standard for Kardashian-style kenneling. The 8,000-plus square-foot facility will offer “services and technology not found at any other local pet daycares or spas,” according to the company’s web site, www. coastalpawspetresort.com.
Among Coastal Paws’ over-the top amenities are:
• Private luxury boarding suites for dogs and cats;
• Pet spa services, facials and paw treatments;
• 20 televisions playing DOGTV;
• 24/7 web cam availability;
• 2,000 square feet of indoor play space equipped with anti-fatigue flooring;
• 2,000 square feet of outdoor play space with antimicrobial K-9 grass and a beach-themed splash pad.
Not too shabby, huh? I can’t imagine Fido or Fifi turning their noses up at such treatment.
Each doggie or kitty guest suite comes equipped with an elevated, chew-proof Kuranda bed and soft fleece pad. At least one of the resort’s televisions can be seen from every suite. Also, each suite is equipped with a web cam, so mommy and daddy can log in and check on their fur baby any time they choose.
The Coastal Paws spa offerings include your standard bath/brush/dry, ear cleaning, and teeth brushing as well as, get this, blueberry facials and oatmeal paw treatments. And since you’re there, why not splurge for a “paw-dicure” with your choice of polish.
I can’t help but wonder, do they put white robes on their furry guests and put little cucumber slices over their eyes?
“Our pets deserve the very best and that’s exactly what we’ll give to each and every one of the pets who come under our care,” says Kristen Downey, a co-owner of Coastal Paws with her husband, Brandon.
As you can imagine, all of the lavishness comes at a price. It’s not cheap by any means, but isn’t your four-legged best friend worth it?
