42 graduate from leadership class

The Greater Florence Chamber of Commerce held a graduation ceremony for its 2019-20 Leadership Florence Class at James Allen Plaza on July 21.

Due to social distance protocols, graduates and visitors were urged to wear masks during the ceremony.

The 42-member graduating class held a ‘Leading by Feeding’ food giveaway in June and fed 300 families in the area.

“This culminates a nine-month journey for some of the area's brightest,” said Les Echols, Director of Community and Minority Enterprise for the Chamber.

Outlook Luncheon planned for Aug. 27

The Greater Florence Chamber of Commerce will hold its 2020 Outlook Luncheon Thursday, Aug. 27 at the Florence Center.

During the event, the Florence Center will follow all COVID-19 guidelines as recommended by the CDC and the state’s accelerate SC committee. All participants and attendees will be required to wear a mask and will have their temperature taken at the door. Doors will open at 11:30 a.m. and the program will begin at noon.

The featured speaker will be S.C. Commissioner of Agriculture Hugh Weathers. The Small Business Person of the Year Award will be presented by Dedicated Community Bank and the Public Servant of the Year Award presented by Francis Marion University. The Small Business Person of the Year Award recognizes a small business owner who exemplifies professionalism, strives to enhance our community and has made a positive impact on the local economy. The Public Servant of the Year Award honors someone who has demonstrated outstanding dedication to community service while embodying the very spirit and ethos of public service.

2020 Staff Appreciation Expo at Florence Center

The Florence Center will host the Greater Florence Chamber of Commerce’s 2020 Staff Appreciation Expo & Luncheon on Wednesday, Sept. 2.

As usual, there will be vendor exhibits and giveaways throughout the event. The doors open at 11a.m. with the program and lunch beginning at noon.

The guest speaker will be Gina Trimarco and her topic will be, “Oh Yes You Did.” Trimarco is a native of Chicago and CEO/Founder of Pivot10 Results and Carolina Improv Company. She has more than 25 years of experience in marketing, sales, operations and people training. She combines street smarts and improv comedy skills with her experience in the corporate and entrepreneurial worlds.
