Burchfield lecture offered by museum curator Motte
Florence County Museum Curator Stephen W. Motte will offer a lecture on American artist Charles Ephraim Burchfield Thursday at 5:30 p.m. The free event is open to the public.
This lecture will focus on the often overlooked art created by Burchfield in South Carolina during World War I.
Burchfield is considered one of the most unique figures in 20th century American art. His paintings, which occupy a rare niche between naturalism and abstraction, are almost a genre unto themselves.
