DO YOU REMEMBER?
KIRSHY‘S AUTO LUNCH – Toufie Kirshey, owner of Kirshy’s Auto Lunch, puts up a sign announcing the closing of the business on Dec. 31, 1969. The business was closing to make way for building of the new Florence City-County Complex. Kirshy came to Florence as the cook at the Army’s air base and stayed to open his restaurant in downtown Florence. The street at the entrance to the Florence Regional Airport is named for him.
