DO YOU REMEMBER?
OLD JUDGE: “Old Judge,” the “horse nurse” owned by the M.B. Huggins family, was a familiar sight in Florence in the early 1900s. The Huggins children would ride in the buggy with the reins thrown over the dashboard. “Old Judge” would take them places, stopping at railroad tracks or if one of the children fell out of the buggy. He would them bring them to the family stables on Main Street. “Old Judge,” having served his time well, died on Armistice Day, now known as Veterans Day, in 1918.
