F1S superintendent honored by SCASN
Florence 1 Schools Superintendent Dr. Richard O’Malley has been recognized by the SC Association of School Nurses for his positive impact on school nursing and the health of school-aged children. District Lead Nurse Beth Holzbach surprised O’Malley with the news Thursday.
O’Malley was presented the 2020-21 Cindy Rish Poole Award, which is given annually by the South Carolina Association of School Nurses to honor individuals whose support of school nursing and school health has been exemplary and whose contributions or accomplishments in the field of school health have made a positive impact on the lives of school-aged children. Holzbach and her team of nurses submitted a nomination for O’Malley, including several personal letters from nurses in the district.
“In an effort to improve student access to medical services, Dr. O'Malley supported the participation of F1S in the McLeod Health School-Based Telehealth Program (SBTP),” stated oner letter. “He has put the well-being of our students first from the very beginning. Dr. O’Malley’s work has truly made a difference in the health and well-being of not only our students but also our staff and community.”
