#GivingTuesdayPeeDee starts countdown
Eastern Carolina Community Foundation (ECCF) is coordinating a collaborative giving campaign called #GivingTuesdayPeeDee for regional nonprofits on Nov. 28. #GivingTuesday is a global day of giving fueled by the power of social media and #GivingTuesdayPeeDee will promote area nonprofits to inspire philanthropy in the Pee Dee on this day.
Celebrated on the Tuesday following the Thanksgiving shopping season – Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, and Cyber Monday – #GivingTuesday kicks off the charitable season, when many focus on their holiday and end-of-year charitable giving. Since its inaugural year in 2012, #GivingTuesday has become an international movement that celebrates and supports giving and philanthropy.
All the nonprofits participating in #GivingTuesdayPeeDee will gather in an open house on the Civic Center concourse where a donation station will be open to the public from 1-6 p.m. on Nov. 28. The public can practice their year-end generosity all in one place at one time by donating time, resources and talents to address local challenges. The donation station brings together the collective power of a unique blend of partners — nonprofits, civic organizations, businesses and corporations, as well as families and individuals — to encourage and amplify charitable acts of kindness.
