Greek church to sell savories
Annual fundraiser to be held Nov. 21-23 at Hellenic Center.
The sweet aroma of desserts baking has been drifting from the kitchen at the Transfiguration of Our Savior Greek Orthodox Church these past few weeks in preparation for the annual fundraiser.
The 68th Fall Greek Food and Pastry Sale and Dinner will be held on Nov. 21-23, in the Hellenic Center. Hours are 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. each day.
As they have for 68 years, the church’s ladies invite the public to come enjoy their authentic Greek meals and desserts and stock up for the upcoming holidays.
The Greek ladies give generously into the community for many philanthropic causes, including refurbishing donation boxes for the House of Hope for the Pee Dee, and providing backpacks for students at Dewey L. Carter Elementary School. The ladies also made contributions to Help 4 Kids, the Manna House, and House of Hope.
This year’s entrees offered include 1/2 baked chicken riganato, dolmades, mousaka and a vegetarian plate, served with rice pilaf, spanakopeta and Greek salad.
Also offered are Greek salads and grilled chicken Greek salads.
Pastries include dipples, baklava, kourambedes, finikia, koulourakia, pear cookie, cannolies, galaktoboureko, chocolate eclairs and sweet breads.
