House of Hope Tiny house project fund drive begins
The House of Hope of the Pee Dee, in conjunction with iHeartMEDIA, is planning a joint effort to raise money for the new tiny house project for women and children facing homelessness.
iHeartMEDIA stations Eagle 92.9, 103 X, The Beat 105.5, The Flo 102.9 and The Rock FM will join together to promote the tiny house project and encourage listeners to get involved by going to the web page www.houses4homeless.org and making a donation. The project’s goal is to raise $125,000 by Dec.15 so the House of Hope can break ground in the first quarter of 2020.
There will also be a multiple station live broadcast on Giving Tuesday, Dec. 3, for call-in donations and for companies to deliver checks. Businesses large and small are encouraged to involve employees in raising money to deliver on Giving Tuesday.
The tiny house project will be located on the House of Hope campus on West Darlington Street in Florence. The plan is to build 23 tiny houses in two stages. The first stage will be for women and children. The second stage will be for men, and men with their children. This long-term, 12-18 month, transitional shelter will offer women, men and families the chance to get the help they need to find permanent employment and move into homes of their own.
