Memorial Day program to be held at National Cemetery
Florence National Cemetery will host its annual Memorial Day Program on May 30 at 10 a.m. to honor those who paid the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation. The program will be held at the National Cemetery’s Committal Shelter, 803 E. National Cemetery Road. Highlighting the program will be keynote speaker MG Robert E. Livingston, Adjutant General, SC National Guard.
Kent Caudle, Florence County Council Vice Chairman and District 5 Councilman will be a special guest. Barringer F. Wingard Jr., Col (R), US Army, will serve as the master of ceremony. The ceremony will also include traditional music by the Praise Tabernacle Ministries Choir, rifle volleys and taps by the Veterans Honor Guard assisted by the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War.
Barringer Wingard Jr., program coordinator has once again put together a special program designed to celebrate all of our veterans, current members of the military and their families. But, the focus remains on those service members who gave their lives while wearing our nation’s uniform.
The program will last about 45 minutes. There is limited seating so guests are encouraged to bring chairs. Parking will be available to the public at the SC Dept. of Disabilities and Special Needs area. For more information, call the Florence National Cemetery at 843-669-8783.
