American Legion seeks new members

on Tuesday, 25 October 2016. Posted in Good life, News, Local News

The Fred H. Sexton American Legion Post #1 is beginning its 2017 membership drive. Legion posts across America are working hard to bring in new members.

Our mission is not only to help veterans and their families, but to be able to pass on to posterity our post, legion core values and programs. Programs include Legion baseball, Boys/Girls State, oratorical competitions, patriotic events at the Veterans Park and National Cemetery, Wreaths Across America and others.

The meaning of “For God And Country” must be passed on. Americanism and community service must be passed on. We need members to fulfill our obligation to all veterans and the community.

As part of the recruiting program the post is offering a reduction in the normal $50 annual dues. For $17 you can be a member for the remainder of 2016, plus the entire year of 2017. This is a fine opportunity for veterans to step up and join the largest veterans organization in the country.

For more information, contact Ken Curran at 843-601-0257, Don Handley at 843-621-6366, or Charlie Bethea at 843-496-5449.
