DAR chapter honors Major Tassios

The Samuel Bacot Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution meeting was held Thursday, Dec. 10, at the Florence Country Club. After a Dutch Luncheon, members and guests were entertained with Christmas music by Nick Townsend and Beverly Hazlewood.
Following the musical program, the “Women in American History” award was presented to Major Noemi Tassios, South Carolina National Guard, who in return, “coined” Mary Francis Turner and the DAR Chapter for this recognition. Major Tassios was the speaker at the DAR Veterans Day meeting in November.
Anne Jenkins, Regent and Ruth Barnett, Vice-Regent laid wreaths at the Florence National Cemetery to honor our veterans on Saturday, Dec. 10 for Wreaths Around America. The next meeting of the Samuel Bacot Chapter of NSDAR will be March 9, 2016. Anyone interested in becoming a member should let any of the officers know to receive information.
