Doggone delicious New food truck caters to canines
A unique new food truck is making its rounds in Florence, the Pee Dee region, and around the state. The food truck caters to specific customers – the furry and four-legged variety.
The Dog Daze Treat Truck is owned and operated by Samantha Jones of Florence and her daughter, Alex. The truck is hard to miss – the multi-hued blue truck sports large images of the Jones’ three doodles – Joy, a labradoodle; Sophie, a Sheepadoodle; and Finley, a goldendoodle. The Jones’ unveiled the truck at the end of October in Charleston and at Eats on the Creek in Florence. Samantha Jones said they are very pleased with their businesses’ early success.
“We have been bombarded,” admits Samantha. “That’s a good thing. I knew there was an interest in businesses that were pet or dog-friendly, but the initial response has been pretty amazing.”
The Dog Daze truck was recently at The Animal Doctor Fall Festival and customers lined up to try out the trucks unusual menu items. Look for the truck at Gospel Temple holiday event on Dec. 4
In addition to offering standard doggie treats, customers can also choose from cookies, bacon-flavored ice cream, doggie cannolis, dogaritas, or puptinis.
Samantha says that everything on the menu is natural and healthy. The dogaritas and puptinis contain no alcohol. A dogarita is chicken broth served in a bowl in which the rim is covered in honey and sprinkled with chicken jerky bits. A puptini is simply chicken broth with a chuck of chicken, which serves as the olive one would find in a martini.
“We wanted to come up with some things you can’t find anywhere else,” said Samantha. “There are very few places in Florence that cater to pets. Pets can be like family and sometimes you want to take them with you when you go out. This gives them a place they can go.
” Samantha said all tip money will be donated to the humane societies in the cities they visit.
“It’s all about the dogs,” said Samantha.” For more information, visit the Dog Daze Treat Truck Facebook page.
