Dr. Fukuda, urologist, joins McLeod
McLeod Health welcomes Dr. Christopher S. Fukuda, Board Certified Urologist, to McLeod Physician Associates and to the medical staff of McLeod Regional Medical Center. Dr. Fukuda joins fellow physicians Dr. David Horger, Dr. Wallace Vaught, and Dr. Charles Yowell as part of McLeod Urology Associates.
Dr. Fukuda comes to McLeod from CHI - St. Alexius Medical Center in Bismarck, N.D. Prior to that appointment in 2012, Dr. Fukuda served on faculty and medical staff of the University of Vermont Medical Center and UVM College of Medicine as an attending surgeon and Clinical Assistant professor in the Division of Urology.
For 20 years, Dr. Fukuda was the primary urologic consultant for the Vermont State Clinic for Children with Special Health Care Needs, instilling a commitment and passion for children and their care. Common conditions treated include voiding disorders (bed wetting), urinary tract infections that require surgery, surgical reconstruction of the urinary tract (kidneys, ureters, and bladder), surgery for groin conditions in childhood and adolescence (undescended testes, hydrocele/hernia, varicocele), and evaluation and management of urinary tract problems associated with neurological conditions such as spina bifida.
A native of Vermont, Dr. Fukuda is an eighth generation physician with a family lineage of healing and medicine from his ancestors in Japan. A passionate outdoorsman and fly-fisherman, Dr. Fukuda and his wife, Mary Katherine (Katie), have three children. Dr. Fukuda welcomes new patients of all ages by physician referral.
