Fair coming to Florence Center

The Greater Pee Dee State Fair & Expo is coming to the Florence Center Oct. 4-13.

The fair which begins a few weeks later than it has in the past, will offer 10 fun-filled days of rides, games, foods, attractions, and entertainment.

The fair, which, annually draw thousands from the Pee Dee region and the state, offers some of the largest fair rides in the nation, animal attractions, world-class live entertainers, stunt devils, music and much more.

The Greater Pee Dee State Fair is a logical outgrowth of the newly expanded Florence Center, an SMG-managed facility. Produced by the Florence Center in conjunction with Prime Time Amusements, the fair will showcase regional and state artists crafters, businesses, and more.

While the event is new to Florence, the staff bringing this fabulous event to the area has more than a century of combined experience in producing successful fairs and festivals, while ensuring that the greatest safety standards are upheld at every level.

“The Greater Pee Dee State Fair brings a safe setting for fun, healthy family entertainment featuring music, attractions, shows, animal exhibits, arts and crafts and showcases the many diverse business interests in Florence, Florence County and the entire Pee Dee region,” said Florence Center General Manager Paul Beard.

If you’re planning to attend South Carolina’s newest fair, be sure to get your MEGAPASS before advance sales end on Oct. 3. MEGAPASS tickets are only $25 and included gate admission and unlimited rides. MEGAPASS tickets can be purchased in advance at the Florence Center box office or online at

Daily admission is $8 at the gate (cash only), with children ages two and under admitted free. ATMs will be available.

Gates open at 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, and at 1 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.

Special days include:

• Oct. 7 – Medical Care and Scrubs Night (Those wearing scrubs get in free.)

• Oct. 8 – Military and First Responders Night (In uniform with proper ID get in free.)

• Oct. 8 – 4-H and AG Day (4-H t-shirt and proper ID get in free.)

• Oct. 9 – School days (Students free with coupon from school web site.)

• Oct. 13 - Church Faith and Family Day (Present church bulletin before 3 p.m. and get in free.)

Individual ride tickets are $1.25 each. Rides may require multiple tickets. Unlimited ride wristbands can be purchased for $25.

All performances, live shows and music concerts are free with regular fair admission.

Carolina Wrestling will have its ring set up on Oct. 5.

Daily shows will include Pleasant Valley Farms Petting Zoo, The Tiger Encounter, Comedy and Magic Show with Bob Bohm, and interactive family game shows.

Live music will be performed on the IHeart Media Stage each night beginning at 7 p.m.

• Oct. 5 A New Creation Band

• Oct. 6 Jim Quick and the Coastline Band

• Oct. 10 Andy and Oneida,

• Oct. 11 Painted Man

• Oct. 12 Sideswiped

• Oct. 13 Tastes Like Chicken

Voodoo Child will serve as the official fair DJ and will perform each day.

The safety of every guest is the top priority for the Greater Pee Dee State Fair. The Greater Pee Dee State Fair is a member of the South Carolina Association of Fairs and the International Association of Fairs and Expositions. Each and every ride will be inspected by Wagner Consulting Group Inc and the South Carolina Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation (LLR.) before operating or opening to the public to ensure a safe and quality experience.
