Florence Evening Lions invite community to join club
The Florence Evening Lions Club is seeking civic-minded men and women to join them in making a difference in the community. As a dedicated group of service minded individuals, the club has come to the aid of countless deserving citizens in the local community.
“Our club gives members an opportunity to advance worthy causes, serve with friends, and become leaders in the community,” said Club President Deborah Sorenson. “This club means a lot to our Lions, but it means so much more to the people we serve.”
The Lions’ motto is “We Serve,” and the FELC has lived up to it. For 54 years, the club has worked on a variety of projects in the local community, such as providing eye exams and eyeglasses, free vision screenings, collecting eyeglasses and hearing aids for use in developing countries, provided Christmas shopping for children of need, planted trees to help protect the environment, to name a few.
The FELC meets every third Thursday of the month at 7 p.m. at Lizard’s Thicket restaurant, 1712 W. Palmetto St. For more information or to get involved with the club, contact Sorenson at (843) 618-0299, or email florenceeveninglions@gmail. com.
