FRAA taking grant applications

The Florence Regional Arts Alliance (FRAA) is accepting grant applications from individual artists and organizations for projects scheduled to begin in April, May or June of 2016. Grant applications are due on February 15.

FRAA accepts grant applications four times a year as part of the Quarterly Grants Program for Organizations and Individual Artists. The program is designed to provide support for a wide variety of quality arts projects, as well as for professional development opportunities for artists and arts administrators in Florence County.

Organizations are eligible to apply for up to $2,500 in funding and individual artists may apply for up to $1,000 in funding. Since the Grants Program’s inception in 1987, FRAA has awarded over $300,000 in grants to arts organizations, artists and teachers.

Organizations which have been awarded funding this year include: Play Me I’m Yours, Lake City Community Theatre’s “Young Frankenstein,” the Fourth Annual SC Chamber Music Festival, Florence Little Theatre’s Rising Stars Program, Masterworks Choir, Musicians for the Chili, Brews and Bog Festival, Lake City Concert Series, Southside Middle School’s “Sights and Sounds of the Season” Program, Florence Symphony Orchestra’s James Tormé Performance, Greater Lake City Artist Guild’s Treasure Hunt Interactive Mural Project.

Individuals artists who have received grants for their projects include: Tiffany Thomas’s equipment acquisition, Dawn Larsen’s CD production and Kathryn Cain’s spinning wheel acquisition. The Quarterly Grants Program is funded by an award from the John and Susan Bennett Memorial Arts Fund of the Coastal Community Foundation of SC, the South Carolina Arts Commission, The National Endowment for the Arts, Honda of South Carolina and local individual support to the FRAA.
